We arrived at our destination, it was beautiful. One of the tour guides gave instructions in English and Spanish (very well spoken English both guys) and away we went. There was one tour guide at the front and one at the back(last cyclist). We made frequent stops to regroup and and away we went again.
Safety was priority with clear explanations every step of the way! The tour guides were very knowledgeable, they knew the route perfectly. Will definitely go on other tours with this company......in fact, I'm going to Cotopaxi in 2 weeks with them.

Considering it was our first outing of the pandemic we never once felt unsafe as they kept the group small and made sure that we were distanced at all times. The place where we camped, a local village, was just awesome and the mist that rose on the river in the evening was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen in my life. This was my girls second tour with Activexpediton (she also did the Active Ecuador tour with them pre pandemic) and I know we both cant recommend them enough!

  Volcanoes in the sky!  - I can't say enough about Activexpedition and my guide Miguel in getting me up these volcanoes.  Ultimate goal was Chimbo (almost), but got up others with perfect weather and excellent... read more days out in the mountains.  Acclimatization went as planned, with a couple incredible climbs (El Corazon, Illiniza Norte).  Tough climbs, some technical parts, but recovery good.  Places we stayed were excellent - good sleep, good food.  Again, I live at sea-level and only get to mountains a couple times a year. Miguel had his work cut out now.  Last two peaks require base camp stays and late night starts.  It took alot of pushing (calm, supportive pushing) to get up Cotopaxi.  But the walk over the edge as the sun came up was awesome.  The top of Chimborazo eluded me (weather wasn't as good, colder, bad sleep).  I say this to say this effort was no joke - it takes training at all of the things required.  I had all the tools from Activexpedition, I just fell a little short on my end.  I'm already planning another first - Aconcagua.  I've been all over Ecuador with Activexpedition (Amazon, Galapagos, volcano region, cloud forests, biking, hiking, boating) and now I'm going to see if they can get me higher! The philosophy of this company was also something I also greatly appreciated (i.e experience through culture and adventure and their support for local business).

Our guide, Christian, was the best guide I've ever interacted with. He was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Ecuador whether it was an area we were currently in or not. Additionally, he was very professional and made accommodations for all skills levels in our group while still making sure that everyone involved had the level of challenge they wanted and ensuring a good time was had by all.

The treks themselves were amazing. The order in which they do the treks sets you up for success and acclimates you appropriately. I'd never been to Ecuador but heard it was beautiful. What I saw while trekking was far superior to "beautiful". Christian was very attentive to safety, ensured everyone was ok along the way.

I can't say enough about how pleased I was with this trip, the activities, the company, the guide, everything! I can't wait to return for some mountain biking soon!

  Once again, Christian has managed to create an original, unique, and simply breath-taking tour, allowing you to mountainbike (and some sections, hike) near, on, and down (!) some of the... read more most beautiful volcanoes. While there are, for example, tours for Chimburazu, this tour is different because it combines the various (and very different) volcanoes in the area. Besides, the staff are super accomodating, and the owner Christian, an Ecuadorian, definetely knows his country and can provide you with interesting facts about nature, culture, and the food. The food provided is also excellent, and the views while enjoying the food are too. Love chocho! Finally, this tour company focusses on responsible ecotourism, which I consider a great plus.

The difficulty level is average, and I'd say doable for anyone looking for an adventure. For the more experienced mountainbikers, there are some more technical parts that allow you to show off your skills.

Of course, I had to pay a bit extra because of this, but Christian (company owner) was still down to show me an adventure. I didn’t realize this adventure would be quite so personalized, however! My guide, Lobito (Andres), was so attentive, hilarious, and willing to make my experience as unique as could be! He knows the Banos area very well, and he coordinated with his boss to add experiences to our itinerary based on what I said I was interested in. My week with ActivExpeditions included downhill mountain biking two volcanoes, climbing up to 17,500 feet at Cotopaxi, kayaking down an amazing river in the amazon, seeing multiple waterfalls, swimming in rivers and hot springs, making chocolate from cocoa beans, and getting to know the LEGEND, Lobito. He is professional, knowledgable, and overall such an incredible human. I felt so comfortable just hanging out with him and hearing about Ecuador from his eyes. They all made me feel very welcome and safe, went beyond my expectations, from the airport pick-up to the airport drop-off. The riding was different every day and great for my level of riding (intermediate to advanced). We didn't get totally lucky with the weather but that only added to the adventure. The hotel accommodations were by far the best I've ever stayed at on an MTB trip, especially the 5 star Quito hotel and the historic hacienda which was like a museum. The cultural experiences were all very memorable. I took tons of photos and got a few souvenirs (including thoughtful gifts from ActivExpeditions). I hope I get to go back for more trips with them.

His passion and knowledge for his country is outstanding, he ensures everyone in the group has a great experience regardless or fitness level or experience. The itinerary was awesome, so many things to do, I especially loved the whitewater rafting and canyoning in the Amazon.
