I had just... read more finished traveling with my partner, who enjoys a slower pace of traveling compared to my GO-GO-GO mindset and I found ActivExpeditions and thought this could be the perfect adrenaline and outdoor experience, and boy was I right. I signed up for the trip about 5 days in advance, and was informed I was the only traveler who had signed up thus far! Of course, I had to pay a bit extra because of this, but Christian (company owner) was still down to show me an adventure. I didn’t realize this adventure would be quite so personalized, however! My guide, Lobito (Andres), was so attentive, hilarious, and willing to make my experience as unique as could be! He knows the Banos area very well, and he coordinated with his boss to add experiences to our itinerary based on what I said I was interested in. My week with ActivExpeditions included downhill mountain biking two volcanoes, climbing up to 17,500 feet at Cotopaxi, kayaking down an amazing river in the amazon, seeing multiple waterfalls, swimming in rivers and hot springs, making chocolate from cocoa beans, and getting to know the LEGEND, Lobito. He is professional, knowledgable, and overall such an incredible human. I felt so comfortable just hanging out with him and hearing about Ecuador from his eyes. They say a tour guide can make or break a trip... read more experience, and Christian definitely made our recent trip to Ecuador one of the best trips we have done through Ecuador and probably South America if I'm honest. His passion and knowledge for his country is outstanding, he ensures everyone in the group has a great experience regardless or fitness level or experience. The itinerary was awesome, so many things to do, I especially loved the whitewater rafting and canyoning in the Amazon.

The teams coordination and professionalism meant that even if something went wrong, we had no clue, we all carried on as normal. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the restaurant recommendations and experience add on's that he was able to provide.

His English is superb and he not only guides with expertise and enthusiasm, but also conveys information on geography, history, flora and fauna, culinary variety etc. He is an avid mountain biker and kayaker, as well as hiker and explorer. He has a great sense of humor and balance. He has organized the itinerary very thoughtfully and managed as needed for each of the group members to accommodate their needs. The tour itself is well planned, has a wide variety of terrain and activities planned - from the island experience in the Galapagos to mountain biking, rafting and canyoning in the Amazon. Our guide, Christian, was the best guide I've ever interacted with. He was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Ecuador whether it was an area we were currently in or not. Additionally, he was very professional and made accommodations for all skills levels in our group while still making sure that everyone involved had the level of challenge they wanted and ensuring a good time was had by all.

The treks themselves were amazing. The order in which they do the treks sets you up for success and acclimates you appropriately. I'd never been to Ecuador but heard it was beautiful. What I saw while trekking was far superior to "beautiful". Christian was very attentive to safety, ensured everyone was ok along the way.

I can't say enough about how pleased I was with this trip, the activities, the company, the guide, everything! I can't wait to return for some mountain biking soon!

  I went on a two day river kayaking trip with Activexpediton in August with my significant other and her friends. It was such a blast. Considering it was our first outing of the pandemic we never once felt unsafe as they kept the group small and made sure that we were distanced at all times. The place where we camped, a local village, was just awesome and the mist that rose on the river in the evening was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen in my life. This was my girls second tour with Activexpediton (she also did the Active Ecuador tour with them pre pandemic) and I know we both cant recommend them enough!

We arrived at our destination, it was beautiful. One of the tour guides gave instructions in English and Spanish (very well spoken English both guys) and away we went. There was one tour guide at the front and one at the back(last cyclist). We made frequent stops to regroup and and away we went again.
Safety was priority with clear explanations every step of the way! The tour guides were very knowledgeable, they knew the route perfectly. Will definitely go on other tours with this company......in fact, I'm going to Cotopaxi in 2 weeks with them.

  Once again, Christian has managed to create an original, unique, and simply breath-taking tour, allowing you to mountainbike (and some sections, hike) near, on, and down (!) some of the... read more most beautiful volcanoes. While there are, for example, tours for Chimburazu, this tour is different because it combines the various (and very different) volcanoes in the area. Besides, the staff are super accomodating, and the owner Christian, an Ecuadorian, definetely knows his country and can provide you with interesting facts about nature, culture, and the food. The food provided is also excellent, and the views while enjoying the food are too. Love chocho! Finally, this tour company focusses on responsible ecotourism, which I consider a great plus.

The difficulty level is average, and I'd say doable for anyone looking for an adventure. For the more experienced mountainbikers, there are some more technical parts that allow you to show off your skills.

We did a little bit of everything during this trip from biking and hiking to beach days, art, and amazing food. Their attention to support local businesses/people and in being an eco friendly company is evident in everything that is planned and carried out.
